Therion, this band has an amazing box-set Celebrators of Becoming the live concert on that box set is really good they have orchestral elements blended nicely into metal music and they use alot of choirs and classical musicians,to anyone not familiar with them that like that check them out,They are also one of the first commercial and audience-successful heavy metal with fully live orchestra featured and helped originate, popularised and influence the symphonic metal genre Cool

After Forever, Flowing Tears, Edenbridge, Kamelot.

Anybody know what Floor Jansen is doing now? She is the only female symphonic metal singer to compare with Tarja. I wish Floor would have joined Xandria! @RD

Epica - The Classical Conspiracy hard to go wrong with a live show that has simone's gorgeous voice followed well with mark jansens growls;)I guess all that CHOCOMOO paid off again,It's a great live cd that also included a 40-piece orchestra and a 30-piece choir...Another epic cd from Epica Cool

Thanks for the review Spike, will have to pick that one up. For some reason I haven't been able to get into Epica, too much like Tarja and Nightwish, but doesn't compare as well I guess.

Can't stop listening to Flowing Tears' "Thy Kingdom Gone" album. Helen Voigt's vocals are very different than anything else I can find, along with great songwriting and production.

Also can't stop playing Angtoria, a little known American artist who goes by the name Sara Jezebel Diva. Wish they'd do another album.

Leaves Eyes En Saga I Belgia is growing on me, up till now I wasn't onboard with Liv Kristin's style.

I search the universe for the best symphonic metal, these are my current favs (along with Tarja of course)

In case you can't tell I'm also a big Floor Jansen fan. She's far too talented to just sit on the shelf this long. Although After Forever had some great songs, overall I think she was held back by subpar compositions. Dare I suggest that she join Nightwish now? (btw - I'm not an Annette hater).
